Why Business Growth Doesn’t Always Create Freedom

We have some big news to share: The Tamarisk Method — the book — is officially out, and it hit Amazon's #1 Best Seller list within its first couple of weeks in print.

It's the culmination of years spent working alongside business owners, and we wanted to share a bit about why it exists, who it's really for, and what surprised us most in writing it.

Growth Doesn't Always Create Freedom

Most owners assume that if they grow the business, freedom follows. More revenue, more team, more success — eventually, things get easier.

Often, it works the opposite way.

As revenue grows, more employees need the owner. More customers depend on the owner. More decisions flow through the owner. The business gets bigger, but everything still revolves around one person.

Many owners aren't scaling their business. They're scaling owner dependency.

That distinction is the reason The Tamarisk Method exists — both the advisory work and now, the book.

What We Really Mean by "Options"

We believe the purpose of a business isn't simply to make money. Profit matters, revenue matters, growth matters — but none of those are the highest purpose of a business.

The highest purpose of a business is to create options.

  • Can you take two weeks off and truly unplug?
  • Could your business continue if something unexpected happened tomorrow?
  • Do you have the option to sell, the option to keep it, or the option to pass it on?

Many owners spend decades building successful businesses without realizing they've quietly been losing options along the way. The Tamarisk Method — the framework and the book — exists to reverse that.

Who This Book Is For

Here's the part of writing this book that surprised us most.

When Tabetha started writing, she was picturing one reader: the owner. Every chapter, every example, was written with that person in mind.

Somewhere in the middle of writing, that changed.

She realized she wasn't just writing to the person who built the business. She was writing to the spouse who's watched their partner disappear into it for years. To the adult children who grew up understanding, even if no one ever said it out loud, that the business came first. To the friends who've stood next to someone they love, watching them get quietly carried away by something they built.

Because the idea at the center of this book — that a business should create options, not just income — doesn't only apply to the owner. It applies to everyone standing next to them, too.

Final Thought

Before your next major business decision, ask yourself a simple question: what options is this creating?

Is it making your business more dependent on you, or less? Is it creating freedom, or more responsibility that only you can carry? Is it building something that can endure, or something that only works because you're holding it together?

Every business owner starts their company hoping to create a better life. A business should absolutely create wealth. More importantly, it should create freedom — and freedom comes from having options.
